Marriage of Australian Citizens in Italy
For these wishing to get marry in Italy, we recommend that you obtain an Atto Notorio from the Italian Embassy or Consulate in the state in which you reside.
If one of the couple's member was married before, that will have to show proof of the termination of previous marriage.
In addition to the Atto Notorio, an Australian Citizen intending to get married in Italy will need to make a Sworn declaration.
The sworn declaration must be signed in the presence of an Australian Consular officer.
The Nulla Osta must be then legalised by the Office of Prefettura.
The Atto Notorio and the Nulla Osta togheter are then to be taken from the Ufficio Matrimoni or Marriage Office in the Italian city where you plan to marry.
At this time you will be given an appointment to make the Promise of Marriage or Declaration of Intent to marry, and another for the actual marriage ceremony.
These appointment is usually given in the same day.
